Susanne Aaes (1960) creates inspiring and glowing glass art. The works radiate a catching joyfulness and reflect the artist’s competent technical skills.

The glass is mixed with contrasting materials and the artist shows playfulness in the use of shapes and unexpected components. The inspiration and the different components of the art are found in the rough countryside in the western Denmark. The materials, as e.g. raw and cold metals or the hard textual effect of slate, are recycled and used in surprising manner, where the clarity of the glass generates new angles and dimensions.

In this way the artist challenges the boundaries of her art and the joyful glass art has a rare, graphic sharpness that does not compromise the crystalline colours and the lively shapes.

Susanne Aaes was educated designer in 1988, and has functioned as a full time artist since 1997.
